Kedron-Wavell Services Club scooped the pool at last night’s Keno & Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence.
Over 1200 guests and friends of “clubland” attended the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre event to see Kedron-Wavell Services Club take home four awards, including Best Club Brisbane North, Best Club Redevelopment over $1 million, a government award for Responsible Gambling and General Manager Lyndon Broome taking home Club Secretary/Manager of the Year.
Kedron-Wavell Services Club is thriving and reinvesting back into the community through their $1.2 million cash and in kind support to various charities, including most notably their support to the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation and Smith Family that totaled over $40,000.
Their significant $3.5 million investment in reinvigorating Café HQ has increased their seating capacity by about 80 percent to almost 300 seats and has seen a 50 percent increase in trade by providing numerous dining experiences within the one offering through their plush formal dining space, informal space, European style courtyard and the feature Qube space available for private functions. The new façade has repositioned the entrance of the club, making the club more inviting and enticing, engage new clientele.
Club Secretary/Manager of the Year was awarded to Lyndon Broome who boasts 15 years experience in the club industry, having spent over seven years at Kedron-Wavell. Lyndon has brought a fresh outlook to the club and is delivering on his vision to be the leading club in Queensland, having grown the club’s membership base by over 10,000 in the previous financial year and financing continuous improvements to the club.
Clubs Queensland Chief Executive Officer Doug Flockhart congratulated Kedron-Wavell Services Club on their awards and Lyndon Broome’s individual success. “Mr Broome’s strengths in leadership and mentorship make him a very deserved recipient of the Club Secretary/Manager of the Year,” Mr Flockhart said. “Kedron-Wavell Services Club should be immensely proud of their vision to build the club’s formidable reputation and continue to grow membership and I congratulate them on their successes.”
