Introduction to Workplace Hygiene

This introductory unit is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of workplace hygiene at operational level.

This unit forms part of Certificate III in Hospitality. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued with a statement of attainment listing each of the units, in partial completion of Certificate III in Hospitality.

Further study opportunities:
Students completing the introduction to workplace hygiene program may proceed to attain a full Certificate III in Hospitality qualification or food safety course.

Food Safety Course

The purpose of this training program is to provide managers, supervisors and HACCP implementation team members the opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge required to effectively develop and maintain a food safety program, specific to the hospitality industry.

Students are provided with generic knowledge and skills relating the importance of food safety and managing food hygiene by identifying hazards, identifying control measures, determining appropriate control limits at each defined critical control point, monitoring and taking corrective action and record keeping.

The Food Safety Act 2006 requires all licensable food businesses to have a Food Safety Supervisor. Food Safety Supervisors must hold a statement of attainment in the following units of competency. This requirement commenced from 22nd February 2008 and was be enforcable from 1st July 2008.

This course fulfils the requirements as specified by the Food Safety Act 2006.

Students completing the food safety program may proceed to attain a full Certificate III in Hospitality (Operations) qualification.

Gaming Operations

This program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively in all facets of gaming. The program covers the operation and maintenance of gaming machines, pay outs and security of gaming areas, the provision of advice on all games offered by an enterprise and conducting day-to-day operations within a TAB outlet and Keno game within a hospitality enterprise.

This program is delivered in a simulated training room ensuring that students receive industry specific training.

SITHGAM006A Provide responsible gambling services

Provide responsible service of gambling.

Provide information and assistance to customers about problem gambling.

The units undertaken in this course forms part of Certificate III in Hospitality. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued with a statement of attainment listing each of the units, in partial completion of Certificate III in Hospitality.

Responsible Gambling Services

This program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to satisfy the relevant State/Territory legislative requirements and codes of practice to provide responsible gambling services and to ptrovide information and assistance to customers.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)

This program is authorised by the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR) and is run by KWSC Training in partnership with Direct Training Australia.

Program structure:

Sell or serve alcohol responsibly.

Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.

Assess alcohol affected customers and identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused.

Refuse to provide alcohol.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be issued with a OLGR authorised Statement of Attainment listing the unit completed.
